First lets hit the bad part. If you read the book you will watch this movie and go what the hell am I watching if you didn't you will no doubt love this movie. This series is totally perplexing to me. Lord of the Rings, a much longer more complicated book translated to the screen without a hitch. Here its like they take pieces of the book and then just do them in whatever order they so desire. If a line is more convienent for someone else to say it so be it. I really don't understand the problem with this series and why they refuse to stick to the book at all. These movies are just loose adaptations of the book and that is very disappointing since the books are simply outstanding. That being said I am so glad to see Chris Columbus gone. He was an inferior director and had no business directing it. Curran did an outstanding job in his vision of Hogwarts taking it from the eyes of a child as Harry was in the first two films to putting into the eyes of a jaded and more worldly 13 year old Harry. Overall the movie was clearly the best of the three but after reading the book it felt like a disappointment. What worries me most though is if they can't do a 300 to 400 page book in a 2 or 3 hour movie how on earth are they going to do 700 to 800 page book?
Rating: Weak Light Green. If you have read the book and seen the butcher job of the first two you will probably have the same problems as before. Maybe this is how the British adapt books to movies?.

HAHAHA ok I guess I see how they will do the next two books apparently they plan on doing a 4 hour movie!!!! with an intermission of course. They are asking alot of the casual fans I think. Perhaps a Kill Bill style movie? 2 1/2 hours and 6 months later another 2 1/2 hours? Think about it guys you could double your profits for one book!!!

This movie was vastly inferior to the first movie and does not bode well for the fourth book. The problem I had with the movie is that it left huge chunks of the book and not just unimportant ones but the important ones as well. The most important being Lucius Malfoys connection to Valdamort. Not only that it glossed over everything and nothing was important. It couldn't spend more then 5 seconds on any one plot point. It seemed Chris Columbus was in a constant hurry to get his final Harry Potter Movie done.
Final Rating: 2 out of 5 stars. Should have been and could have been a lot better. Maybe its a good thing Chris Columbus is departing.
