This is brilliant! I really didn't expect it to be so good and I did expect it to be incredibly depressing all the way thru but it wasn't, it was a good range of emotions, high, low and in between. It's similar to Sommersby in terms of presenting life on the home front in the south, scraping by with little or no food and the help of neighbors. Rene Zellweger's accent was a bit overdone and bothered me, I liked Nicole Kidman's performance much more. The music was gorgeous and beautifully done. All in all, a great movie.
